Mulhern’s Moving Inc., proudly doing business as DanTheMover.com, has been providing dependable, professional moving services throughout Pennsylvania and across the East Coast for over 30 years.
Our story began before the moving company was ever founded.
In 1994 and 1995, owner Dan Mulhern worked in the antique business, helping families, collectors, antique dealers, and auction houses carefully transport valuable antiques and family heirlooms. During those early years, Dan had the privilege of learning from respected antique dealers who had spent 40 to 60 years in the business.
They taught him the proper techniques for handling, wrapping, protecting, and transporting valuable and irreplaceable pieces, including fine cherry and mahogany furniture, marble-top pieces, grandfather clocks, Waterford crystal, Tiffany lamps, Lenox collectibles, artwork, mirrors, and delicate family treasures.
Those experiences became the foundation for the company we are today.
Dan learned early that the items inside a customer’s home are much more than furniture. Many have financial value, but even more importantly, they often carry a lifetime of memories and sentimental value that simply cannot be replaced.
That philosophy inspired Dan to build a moving company centered around care, honesty, professionalism, attention to detail, and treating every customer’s belongings as if they were our own.
As more people began asking Dan to help with their moves, he obtained the required licenses and insurance and officially founded Mulhern’s Moving Inc. in 1996. As the internet grew, the company established DanTheMover.com, making it easier for customers to find a trusted local moving company built on experience, integrity, and personal service.
Mulhern’s Moving has truly been a family business from the beginning.
Dan’s wife, Alice Mulhern, has been alongside him since the early days, helping behind the scenes with many of the details that keep a moving company organized and running smoothly.
Over the years, Alice has assisted with customer service, scheduling, planning, organization, management, packing, and coordinating the many details that go into a successful move.
Alice also brings a special level of patience and care to our packing services, particularly when handling fragile, valuable, or sentimental belongings.
From carefully wrapping and packing Tiffany lamps, Waterford crystal, Lenox pieces, glassware, artwork, antiques, lamps, china, collectibles, and other delicate household treasures, Alice has always understood that certain belongings require more than ordinary packing.
We call it TLC packing—taking the extra time to properly plan how an item should be protected, using the appropriate wrapping, bubble wrap, padding, boxes, and packing techniques to help ensure it arrives safely.
That extra attention to detail has become an important part of Mulhern’s Moving philosophy.
For our family, moving has never simply been about putting furniture on a truck. It is about understanding what matters to the customer and protecting it accordingly.

One of the most meaningful parts of our work has been helping senior citizens and their families during major life transitions.
Over the years, Alice and I have assisted many seniors who are moving out of homes they have lived in for 40, 50, even 60 years or more. These are not just moves, they are life-changing moments filled with memories, emotions, and important decisions.
We understand that these transitions often come with difficult circumstances such as:

In these moments, our role goes far beyond moving furniture. We take the time to listen, understand the situation, and help families find the best possible solution for their needs. Whether it involves careful sorting, deciding what to keep, coordinating donations, or simply offering patience and guidance, we approach every senior move with respect, compassion, and dignity.
Alice plays a very important role in these moves as well, especially when it comes to helping seniors feel comfortable and supported throughout the process. Her calm approach, organization, and attention to detail help reduce stress during what is often a very emotional time.
Our goal is always to make these transitions as smooth, respectful, and stress-free as possible treating every customer the way we would want our own family members to be treated.
Our son, DJ Mulhern, also grew up around the family business.
During high school and college, DJ worked alongside us, learning the moving business firsthand. He helped on moving crews, worked with customers, learned proper furniture protection and loading techniques, and experienced what it takes to successfully complete moves from beginning to end.
Like many true family businesses, there were plenty of long days, early mornings, busy summers, weekends, and challenging moves along the way.
DJ’s hard work during those years helped us continue to grow the company while reinforcing something that has always been important to us: everyone in the family was willing to work and contribute to building the business.
Having our son work alongside us also helped carry our standards into the next generation—the importance of showing up on time, working hard, respecting the customer’s home, protecting their belongings, communicating professionally, and finishing every job the right way.
More than 30 years later, those family values remain at the heart of Mulhern’s Moving Inc.
At Mulhern’s Moving, you’re never treated like just another stop on a route.
We are not interested in becoming the biggest moving company. We want to continue being the kind of company where customers know who they are dealing with and receive personal attention throughout their move.
That is especially important with our long-distance moving service.
For our long-distance moves, your belongings are loaded onto one truck, secured, and remain on that truck until they arrive at your new home.
We do not combine your household shipment with another customer’s move, and we do not transfer your belongings from truck to truck along the way.
Whenever possible, the same professional crew that carefully loads your belongings is also involved in transporting and unloading them at your destination.
